Jere Shea's Actors Studio for Teens (Click here to go to Jere Shea's Actors Studio for Adults, ages 18 and up)
Study acting with Tony Award-nominated stage and screen actor Jere Shea (Stephen Sondheim’s PASSION; Showtime’s “City On A Hill”). Strengthen your skills and understanding of the craft of acting in this online 10-class practical studio class designed for high school age students. Explore self-selected and prepared scripted monologues to deepen your understanding of character, refine your performance, learn reliable skills and techniques, and gain new insight into acting and auditioning. Students will learn through performance and/or observation in this weekly master class.
Students must memorize and prepare in advance a scripted 2-3 minute monologue (serious or comic) from a stage play of their choice. Participants should read the entire play from which their monologue is chosen, select an uninterrupted speech (not dialogue cobbled together), and refrain from selecting movie or television scripts.
A laptop, tablet or video-conferencing device and a reliable internet connection are required for this class. A headset or earbuds with a microphone are strongly recommended.
Parents and Students Please Note: Due to the range of student age and subject matter of class material, it is possible that some monologues may contain language and themes not suitable for all participants. Please use discretion when enrolling your child or participating in this class.
