CALL FOR ART: Arts in Bloom

We are excited to announce our fifteenth annual Arts in Bloom show to be juried by Marie Craig, director of Fountain Street Gallery named Best of Boston in 2019. Arts in Bloom is a competitive juried annual show open to all artists. Marie will choose artwork to be exhibited in our two main galleries, and will also select six outstanding works for awards. These artworks will be honored with fresh flower arrangements designed by seven Hopkinton Garden Club members. The six winning artists will also receive cash prizes totaling over $1,000.

The Theme:

Blossom.  Birth. Rebirth.  Openness. New growth.

New terrain.  Seeing with fresh eyes.  Old things new again.

First times.  Ancient rites.  Dawn. Life.

(Art work does not have to include flowers.)

Specifications:

Up to three artworks that have not been shown at HCA may be submitted. All 2D media may be entered, including photos, fiber art, and digital art. The work must be wired for hanging. Maximum height and width for framed wall hung work is 40 inches.

3D work may be entered if it is free standing (does not require a pedestal) or can be hung on the wall and does not protrude more than 10 inches. 

No sawtooth hangers or sandwich frames, giclee prints, copies, derivative, or electronic reproductions will be accepted.

At HCA, there are several opportunities for artists to show work: Fresh Perspectives (open to all HCA students); The Big Tent (open to all members), and  juried shows, such as Spring Ahead: Arts in Bloom (open to adult artists). Juried exhibits are curated by guest jurors who select pieces from submissions received during our open Calls for Art. Recent jurors have included Mim Brooks Fawcett, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Attleboro Museum, Katherine French (Director Emerita of Danforth Art, now Gallery Director of Catamount Arts), Jane Young (Chase Young Gallery, Boston), Arthur Dion (Gallery NAGA, Boston), Zola Solamente (Arden Gallery, Boston), and Photographer Chehalis Hegner.

SHIPPING artwork: U.S.Art is a very good, professional art shipping company.  (They are not inexpensive.) 
If the work is a sturdy piece in a wooden box, a common carrier, i.e., a trucking company, can do it.
If it's a small sturdy piece that can be very well packaged, Fed Ex, UPS, and the post office are possibilities. (Rule of thumb for UPS: can the piece in its package survive being dropped four feet onto hard floor?)
