What's the difference between an agent and manager? What is the role of a casting director? In this workshop, Emily Grill will help to demystify the film and television industry. Learn what agents, managers, and casting directors do, how best to prepare for entering the world of tv and film, and what to expect when starting your audition journey. Ask questions from someone who works in the field and will give you direct insight into everything you ever wanted to know about "show business".
Emily Grill has worked in film and television entertainment in LA and New York for 6 years. Previously she worked at Paradigm talent agency and in reality and TV / film casting in Los Angeles. Currently she works in casting for TV/Film in New York City. Emily has also worked as the assistant to the Artistic Director at the Eugene O’Neill theater center for the last 2 summers, as well as produced off-off broadway shows in New York.
Registration is required. A Zoom link will be sent out 2 hours prior to the start of the webinar to your email address. Although the webinar is free, we encourage participants to help support the Hopkinton Center for the Arts with a donation. Any amount you can give is deeply appreciated. We are going back to the roots of our pottery traditions! Ever wonder how they used to (and still do!) make such beautiful vessels without a potter’s wheel? Join us for our unique online ceramics class where you will learn a variety of hand building techniques (including coil, slab and pinch/pull) in this four-week, project-based, on-line ceramic class. Projects may include decorative and functional coil pots, bowls, or containers, ocarinas, mugs, vases.
When the session is complete, we will let you know when you can drop off the pieces you create in this class for bisque firing. To finish your piece, you will be invited to a glazing class when the Center re-opens.
Included in the class fee is 12.5 pounds of clay. Students will need to provide their own tools. If you need to purchase tools, we have some basic kits available for $10. Finally, students will need to supply a piece of heavy canvas, wooden board or drywall at least 18” x 18” to work on, and a rolling pin (or fat dowel).
5 Classes Total: (4) 2-hour classes online, plus one in-person glazing class (Date TBA)

Mondays at 2pm with HCA instructor and Worcester Art Museum Docent Marion Buricatu on Zoom.
This class is FREE, but registration is required. In lieu of a fee for this 6-class session, the HCA asks that you make a donation in support of the center.
Every dollar raised will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10,000!
Here is how it works:
Each student will work on his/her own project.
We will use a shared folder on Google drive called "HCA Oil Painting Class Sharing Folder," where everyone can upload a picture of their painting. (If you are unable do this, you can send your picture directly to Marion).
Marion will send a weekly challenge about basic painting skills that will not take students no more than 20 minutes to do at home.
Once a week, on Monday at 2pm, we will meet on Zoom and share our projects. (To learn about Zoom – a super easy-to-use platform – through live interactive trainings, visit thislink.) Students are invited to show and tell or ask for feedback/criticism, or simply participate in this nurturing, stimulating environment!
The meeting will last 40 minutes, but you can leave at anytime.
Marion will supply a materials list for new students.

Study acting with Tony Award-nominated stage and screen actor Jere Shea (Stephen Sondheim’s PASSION; Showtime’s “City On A Hill”). Strengthen your skills and understanding of the craft of acting in this online 10-class practical studio class designed for high school age students. Explore self-selected and prepared scripted monologues to deepen your understanding of character, refine your performance, learn reliable skills and techniques, and gain new insight into acting and auditioning. Students will learn through performance and/or observation in this weekly master class.
Students must memorize and prepare in advance a scripted 2-3 minute monologue (serious or comic) from a stage play of their choice. Participants should read the entire play from which their monologue is chosen, select an uninterrupted speech (not dialogue cobbled together), and refrain from selecting movie or television scripts.
A laptop, tablet or video-conferencing device and a reliable internet connection are required for this class. A headset or earbuds with a microphone are strongly recommended.
Parents and Students Please Note: Due to the range of student age and subject matter of class material, it is possible that some monologues may contain language and themes not suitable for all participants. Please use discretion when enrolling your child or participating in this class.
