Let's go! - Art Around the World 

Hopkinton Center for the Arts - Art Around the World series presents a free children's cultural program. You and your child are welcome to join us this February as we celebrate the Chinese New Year with instructor Judith Smith. Kids will sing a song, listen to a story, and have fun making a culturally themed art craft. Program runs Sunday, 3 to 4:15 pm.

Recommended for ages 3 to 8. 

Pre-registration is required. Space is limited. Register each child attending.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Hopkinton Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Winter Landscapes - February Vacation Workshop

A basic, fun exploration of different styles of dance including hip hop, lyrical and basic tumbling. A short hip hop and lyrical combination, as well as tumbling skills learned will be showcased to family at the end of the 2nd day. Students should bring a snack and bottle of water.

Voice & Movement for Performers & Public Speakers

The first step in effective communication is becoming aware of and releasing habitual tensions in the voice and body. Designed for actors, performers and public speakers, this class will introduce the tools for developing a free and open speaking voice. Starting with breath, alignment and movement exercises, we will move into language using Shakespeare’s verse. Whether you are interested in learning how to create a more embodied character onstage or feel more at ease speaking in front of an audience, this course will explore relaxation, presence and inspiration from the inside out. Please bring a notebook or journal and come prepared to move with loose comfortable clothing. For teens and adults

Instructor: Karin Trachtenberg

 

Karin Trachtenberg has over 30 years of experience in the theater as an actor, director, teacher, producer and arts administrator. She holds a masters degree in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University and attended drama school in London. Karin has taught theater and arts education at Clark University, Lesley University’s Creative Arts in Education Program, Pine Manor College and The Schauspiel Gemainschaft in Zurich Switzerland. She has performed at various theater venues throughout the Boston area including Zeitgeist Stage, Roxbury Rep, Newton Nomadic, Newton Theater Company, 4th Wall Stage, Stageloft Rep, Fort Point Theater Channel, Marblehead Little Theatre and Open Theatre Project. She is currently enrolled in the Master Teacher certification program with legendary voice and Shakespeare coach Patsy Rodenburg.
